Review of NHS foundation trusts’ annual plans (2011/12)

This report highlights the key issues and trends identified by Monitor in plans submitted by individual foundation trusts. The plans reveal that foundation trusts are facing their most challenging period with an increase in pressure across the sector. Particular challenges come from the need to deliver significant savings year on year while improving the quality of care, and the need to integrate successfully large numbers of community services transactions.

National End of Life Care Intelligence Network

Local preferences and place of death in regions within England 2010
This report compares people’s preferences for place of death with actual place of death as recorded by Office for National Statistics mortality data.  A population based telephone survey was used to explore people’s preferences. It aims to provide better information to direct service improvements, enabling more people to die in their place of choice.
