Hospital workforce: fit for the future?
This report brings together findings from the medical registrar report and the 2011 RCP consultant census and looks at the key challenges that are facing the medical workforce. It concludes that there needs to be a rethink of the skills in which doctors are trained, in order to better meet patients’ needs; while the role of the medical registrar and the esteem in which it is held must be reassessed and better valued.

For the convenience of our library users, a new Book Returns Box has been installed on the ground floor of MDGH – just opposite the WRVS shop. The box will be emptied twice daily and should make it easier and more convenient for people to return their books on time.

EAST Cheshire NHS Trust has confirmed that its decision whether it will reopen Knutsford’s Tatton Ward will not have to be discussed by the borough council until 2014.
The consultation into Tatton Ward finished in February and campaigners were expected to hear the matter discussed at the next Cheshire East Council health scrutiny meeting taking place on Thursday, March 7. But the trust told the Guardian the council only has to discuss it a YEAR after the decision has been made by the trust board.
A spokesperson for East Cheshire NHS Trust said: “The Trust will make recommendations following the Tatton Ward Consultation at its Public Trust Board on March 28. “The Trust has been advised that the Scrutiny committee do not expect a report on the conclusion of the Tatton Ward consultation until approximately 12 months post decision making and implementation.” A notification of the decision of the Trust Board will be sent to the committee for information after March 28.”

The Staff Library is pleased to welcome visitors and members to it’s new space in New Alderley House. Take the lift or stairs to the 2nd floor and turn right – Angela, Alison, Carole, Jan and Steve will be pleased to see you and show you around. Books and journals are in place but there may be some disruption to printing and IT services. However, we hope the delay will be minimal. Existing users who have 24hr access will continue to use their badges to gain access out of hours as before.
Our thanks to all those involved in the move especially Andy Hall of Estate Services, Cheshire IT Services and the removal team.
