November 18: A date for your diary!

Staff Library Open event – Libraries are good for you

DSCF0548On November 18 it won’t be business as usual in the Staff Library because all sorts of activities will be taking place there. Demonstrations, a free prize draw, reflexology and other relaxing alternative therapy sessions plus the opportunity to meet a local Para-Olympian medalist, Matthew Walker.  The theme of the event is LIBRARIES ARE GOOD FOR YOU.  If you haven’t already found your way across to the 2nd floor of New Alderley House, then this is a great time to visit.  John Wilbraham will be there to officially open the Library at 12.30.

We look forward to seeing you so why not bring your lunch or bring a friend any time between 11.30 and 2.30pm? There are light refreshments available and you can purchase sandwiches from the lunchtime trolley.

The Kings Fund: Acute oncology on the acute medical unit

This toolkit aims to improve the care of cancer patients admitted to hospital as an emergency with medical problems due to their cancer or their treatment. It stresses the importance of patients having access to cancer specialists as soon as possible, and suggests that NHS trusts set up acute oncology services, which can work with the team in the acute medical unit to help in the management of patients with acute oncology problems.
