The Library has recently purchased 13 new eBooks from the ‘Crash Course‘ series:

Today is the 50th anniversary of International Literacy Day!

Library and Knowledge Service due to reopen this Monday!

New library layoutThe Library and Knowledge Service has now completed its externally funded refurbishment, and is due to reopen from 8.30am on Monday 29th February 2016. Why come and see what the new layout is like?

The Library and Knowledge Service is due to be refurbished between the 17th and 24th of February inclusive. The Service will be closed between these dates, and no items will be due back during the weeks beginning 15th February and 22nd February.

Note that you can borrow extra items during this time, which will help the move as it means fewer items of stock will need to be stored and moved.

Please be aware that the Library and Knowledge Service will be closed for a refit between Monday 22nd – Wednesday 24th February inclusive, which is being externally funded by Health Education England.

There will also be some disruption to services during the week beginning 15th February as some minor building work takes place.

Library book sale – books are now free to a good home!

liblogo2015The Library and Knowledge Service has been selling its old book stock for 20p each previously, to make room for newer and more up to date stock. During the Christmas period, these books will be available for free to anyone interested!

The books are on bays next to the fiction collection – please ask a member of library staff if you’re unsure, or have any questions.

Errors in the most recent BNF and BNFc

bnfappNationally it has been recognised that there are a small number of clinically significant errors in the most recent BNF (BNF 70) and BNF for Children.

Be aware that the BNF has not been circulated to Trust staff due to the errors contained within.

The online and app versions of both, accessed via an OpenAthens account, have already been corrected. Please contact the Library and Knowledge service for advice on downloading and accessing the app.

The BNFc is available to Trust staff with these errors – please contact your ward pharmacist if you require further information; the Library and Knowledge Service has printed a list of the errors.

Library and Knowledge Service unstaffed for Bank Holiday

liblogo2015Please note that the Library and Knowledge Service will not be staffed over this Bank Holiday weekend. You are still welcome to use the books, computers, self-service machine and other resources Saturday to Monday, using your staff badge to swipe into the building out of hours, but there will be no members of staff available for enquiries.

We will be available once again from 8.30am on Tuesday 1st September. We hope you have a good Bank Holiday!

We’d like to welcome 25 new people to East Cheshire who attended Corporate Induction yesterday, many of whom registered with the library. This included 5 new international nurses.

The Library and Knowledge Service is free and available to all of you to use: you can borrow books, use computers, ask for help with finding information for work, do e-learning, ask for training, or just come up and talk to us over a cup of coffee! If you haven’t already registered with us, you can do so any time you’re free!

We’d like to hear any and all feedback from you on what you think of library services, how we can improve them and what resources you think are most useful to you.

Remember, our services are driven by you, the user, and without your help we can’t make them the best possible!

The annual survey for the Library and Knowledge Service is now open – if you want to take part follow this link and complete as much as you can. It should take no more than ten minutes, and would help to provide us with information that we can use to improve library services.

Remember, we can only do this through your help: your feedback guides our service!

Kindle is now available to borrow from the Library and Knowledge Service!

The Library and Knowledge Service has invested in a Kindle which is available for all library members to borrow. It can contain fiction books and medical textbooks, as well as PDF documents.

Self-service is officially open!

Bronwyn Self Service 1The Library and Knowledge Service is pleased to announce that the self-service kiosk is now available. A short ceremony was held where the first book was officially borrowed using the machine. Why not join us in the library where you can learn how to use the kiosk and borrow some books at the same time?

 

Six Book Challenge ending soon

six book logoThe Six Book Challenge is ending on the 29th of June – make sure you’ve read your six before that date. Hand your completed forms in at the Library and Knowledge Service for the chance to win a £10 book token!

Self-service terminal: an update

liblogo2015The self-service terminal has now been installed in the Library and Knowledge Service, but further configuration is needed before it can be used. Staff appreciate your continued patience while we sort out minor issues.

Self-service soon to be available in the Library and Knowledge service!

Macclesfield’s Library and Knowledge Service has taken delivery of a new self-service machine. Once it is installed in about two weeks, library users will be able to use it to borrow, return and renew books, pay fines and check their accounts.

Library book sale

The Staff Library is currently pruning its shelves to make space for new titles across all specialities. We have a large number of books in good condition that we are offering for sale to all staff. Each book costs 20 pence per title on a first-come first-served basis.

DSCF0853The sale is taking place Monday-Friday from 9.00 a.m. to 4.30p.m. until all the old stock has been sold. Money raised from the sale of books will be spent on new stock.

 

You are welcome to come and browse and buy – if you come over to see us at lunchtime, please feel free to browse and bring your lunch with you, we offer free tea and coffee all day to library users. Please contact any member of the Library team if you would like further information on extensions 3923; 1705; 1547; or 3398.
