Health Matters – 2 July 2013

The latest ‘Health Matters’ talk will be looking at the Rapid Recovery Joint Replacement Programme the trust adopted earlier this year. The talk, ‘Knee and Hip Replacements, working together for a quicker, better and happier recovery’, will be led by Mr Graham Keys, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon & Project Lead.

Other speakers at the lecture include Dr Mick Rothwell, Consultant Anaesthetist and the author of the Anaesthesia and Analgesic Protocol; Christine Jackson, Occupational Therapist; Shirley Jones, Perioperative Specialist Practitioner; Selena King, Ward Six Manager; Sarah Clubley, Physiotherapist and Dot Pearson, Acute Pain Nurse and Project Co-ordinator. Several patients who have already been through the programme will also be on hand at the event.

Health Matters – Open 2 Autism

The next event in the Health Matters public lecture series, Open 2 Autism, will take place on Tuesday, 4th June, in the Lecture Theatre, Macclesfield District General Hospital.

East Cheshire NHS Trust’s ‘Open 2 Autism’ project aims to support people with an autism spectrum condition as both a health care provider and an employer. The talk will be given by Michael Rimmington, an expert in autism training and research in hospitals and schools, and who is working with us on our Open 2 Autism project.

Health Matters in March: Shoulder replacement surgery

The next in the popular series of monthly public lectures – ‘Health Matters’, will take place on Tuesday 6 March 2012, ‘Shoulder replacement surgery – how does it work and who will benefit’ presented by Jochen Fischer, Consultant Upper Limb Surgeon. The session will examine what shoulder replacement surgery involves and the benefits of this surgery for arthritic patients.
