Staff Library re-opens: Wednesday 13 March

The Staff Library is pleased to welcome visitors and members to it’s new space in New Alderley House.  Take the lift or stairs to the 2nd floor and turn right – Angela, Alison, Carole, Jan and Steve will be pleased to see you and show you around.  Books and journals are in place but there may be some disruption to printing and IT services.  However, we hope the delay will be minimal. Existing users who have 24hr access will continue to use their badges to gain access out of hours as before.

Our thanks to all those involved in the move especially Andy Hall of Estate Services, Cheshire IT Services and the removal team.

Where has the Staff Library gone?

Moving on

If you visit Education and Training you may be surprised to find that the Staff Library moved to new premises  over the weekend.  Over 320 boxes were used to transport the reduced book stock to our new home on the 2nd floor of New Alderley House.  Many of our older books were given away free to anyone who could make use of them which was a good result.

The Library will be closed for 2 more days in preparation for re-opening on WEDNESDAY 13 MARCH.  We are looking forward to seeing you in our new library space soon (turn right at the top of the stairs).  The first new visitors will each receive one of our new bags to mark the occasion.

pile of booksIf you’re planning to call in the Library next week please make sure you don’t leave it too late, especially if you need books for study.  Packing the stock will begin next week and the drop-in IT service will be disrupted.  Please note the Library will be closed from 9-12 March. We reopen in our new space on the 2nd floor of New Alderley House on Wednesday 13 March – please come along and see us. If you need to contact us, our email and telephone numbers remain the same.  ecn-tr.stafflibrary.nhs.net or 01625 661362

Moving in March!

The countdown begins!

In 32 days time the library will bid farewell to the Education and Training Centre as the task of moving all our books, journals and IT equipment begins.  Next month will see the much anticipated relocation of the Staff Library to its new home on the 2nd floor of New Alderley House.  A number of furniture items which we do not have space for, will be advertised as surplus stock as moving day approaches. Please keep checkingMOVING DAY our website for further information as details are published.

Our leaner meaner journal collection

DSCF0274As part of ongoing work to streamline our processes wherever possible, this month saw the successful update of our current paper journals and their details using the ‘link resolver’.  This is the ‘behind the scenes’ mechanism which seamlessly enables anyone searching the NHS Evidence databases or HDAS for a particular article, to see a list of possible suppliers ie: the paper and/or electronic holdings which we subscribe to or have as part of the NHS England core content deal.

Due to our move in March to much smaller accommodation, the reduction in our collection from over 160 journals down to just 14 vividly illustrates how much the library relocation has cost in terms of resources.

Our paper journals now comprise:
