NHS Trust and local government seek closer collaboration

Focusing on children and families, East Cheshire NHS Trust and Cheshire East Council are partnering to deliver more integrated services.

Recognising that nothing will change until frontline staff transforms the way they work, the two organisations have taken an innovative approach by empowering frontline staff to suggest and help implement the needed changes.

There is mounting evidence to support a more collaborative approach in identifying and addressing needs which otherwise become ‘entrenched’ and then ‘spiral and multiply, causing long term damage’ (The Allen Report, 2011). By recognising the challenges of financial constraints, and encouraging a richer mix of skills and resources, East Cheshire Trust and Cheshire East Local Authority have seized an opportunity to work more effectively together.
